Introducing BOHDS Committee 2010.

Yesterday, BOHDS had it’s Annual General Meeting and we had a great turn-out for the most important meeting of the year.  President Alison Sahhar began with a summary of the progress BOHDS has made throughout the year.  This was followed by the treasurer’s report from Julie Gittins before the main section of the night: the voting of the new committee.  Below are the results:

President: Alison Sahhar

Vice-President: Kelsey Barker

Treasurer: Sarah Moon

Secretary: Tiffany Chuo

Lunch & Learn officer: Andrew Sproll

Promotions officer: Andrew Do

Year level representatives:

- 2nd year Dentistry: Gavin Yang

- 3rd year Dentistry: Rachel Sim

- 3rd year Oral Health: Cathy Huynh

Congratulations to the new committee and we hope that next year will be as good, and even better, than this year.

Annual General Meeting

Every year, the club is entitled to have an Annual General Meeting (AGM) with the main purpose of electing a new executive committee. The BOHDS AGM will be held on Tuesday, October 20 in HSS314/5 at 5pm.  The positions that will be available is listed below (along with the roles of each position):

  • President
    • to co-ordinate club activities;
    • to be chief spokesperson for the club; and
    • to chair general and Executive meetings.
    • to act as the club’s first representative to all external bodies
    • to be a signatory for the club’s budget
    • to help, advise, and support all members of the club
  • Vice-President
    • to assist the President.
  • Secretary
    • to keep the register of members;
    • to arrange general and Executive meetings;
    • to take minutes of all general and Executive meetings;
    • to be responsible for the inward and outward correspondence of the club, including regularly checking the club pigeon-hole in the CSO’s office.
    • to maintain up to date records of the club membership including contact details for members.
    • to arrange events, book facilities, equipment, transport etc.
  • Treasurer
    • to be responsible for all of the club’s money and to record all income received and payments made by the club;
    • to keep a register of all assets held by the club;
    • to prepare an annual budget for the club;
    • to present a financial report to each Executive meeting;
    • to present a financial report to the AGM for:
      • the last financial year, and
      • the period since the end of the 1st financial year; and
    • to keep the financial records of the club, in conjunction with the CSO.
    • to be a signatory for the club’s budget.
    • to keep the club’s committee and members informed of the club’s financial situation.

Other positions that are available on the night include:

  • Learn & Learn officer
    • to organise Lunch & Learn sessions;
    • to be the point of contact for potential speakers.
  • 1st year oral health representative
  • 2nd year oral health representative
  • 3rd year oral health representative
  • 1st year dentistry representative
  • 2nd year dentistry representative
  • 3rd year dentistry representative

The Lunch & Learn officer will be leading a sub-committee to help organise Lunch & Learn sessions.  The year level representatives communicate decisions made by the committee and promote events.

We would like everyone to attend and vote for the person who you think would be best for each role.

Also, yearbooks are being handed out on the day, so be sure that you attend to get your yearbook.
